What’s New in the Latest Amazon Fire TV Cube (2019)?

It's part of Fire TV and part of Echo Dot. But the sum of these parts probably won’t change your living room. Want to know more? Contact our Fire Stick Customer Service.
Looking back, it is clear what exactly we should have expected. Amazon Fire TV is a familiar entity. We've used it for years and it's an excellent option to stream TV. Amazon Echo is a great hands-free voice assistant. We used Alexa for years.

Combine the two cube-shaped ones and we have the Amazon Fire TV Cube. It sits on the three current Fire TV models and is a kind of branch in the Echo line. A more powerful Echo Dot if you want. It connects you to your TV, teach you a bit about what you've connected, and controls things reasonably well. Your screen, speakers or soundbar, other devices.
None of this is very new.

Therefore, it should not surprise us to do anything reasonably good, with foreseeable limitations and no special features of Ge-Whiz.

  • Amazon Fire TV Specifications

The Amazon Fire TV Cube has the same specifications in every respect as the third generation Fire TV Pendant. Both have the same processor and GPU and can handle 4K, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos resolutions. (Although Amazon still lacks content that uses this audio standard). Dolby Vision is not supported, which is not surprising as the processor does not support it.

What is really new here is the inclusion of an infrared transmitter in the cube itself, but there is also an extender that allows the Echo Fire TV to act as a kind of voice-operated universal remote control.

  • Amazon Fire TV Cube Settings

Setting up Fire TV Cube does not differ much from setting up other Fire TV devices. Connect the device to the mains and connect it to your TV and to the Voila.
However, there are some notable things: despite the general size of the Fire TV cube, there is no dedicated Ethernet port. However, there is an Ethernet adapter that connects via micro USB. Amazon has included the adapter in the box, or you can buy one separately for $ 15 if you need another one for some reason.

There is no HDMI cable in the box, which is a bit surprising. We would change the supplied Ethernet adapter for it: it is more likely that you connect it to a TV before you connect it directly to a router.
And remember, the Fire TV Cube is for outdoor use so you can see it. And that's how I can hear you. And remember, this is a shiny, black plastic bucket and every dust stain (attracted to things that are shiny, black and plastic, because of science) and every fingerprint on that thing can be seen.
